Setting Up Prime

After the database manager installs the program and gets it running, it is the task of the application manager to make it work in the office. This section explores those issues necessary to ‘fit’ Prime into your office.

Even after the initial Prime installation/conversion is complete, it is still not ready for use. Several tables must be set up so that the system will work in your office. This section provides you step-by-step instructions on setting up Prime. Some of these things need only be done once to the tables on the server; others must be done to each workstation.

At this stage you should have the Tables (ClientsTPrime.mdb) installed on a shared drive on the server (or on your drive C: if you are not on a network). The front-end, CFWPrime.mdb, should be installed on at least one workstation and linked to the tables on the server. You should be prepared to use this front-end with the full version of Microsoft Access (version 2000 or 2002). If you have old data, it should be converted and sitting in ClientsTPrime.mdb on the server.
