A Wide Area Network with SQL Alone

  1. The client data resides in a SQL Database called ClientsPrime on a SQL Server at
the Main Office. No data transfer is necessary.

  2. The CFWPrime.MDB front-end resides on each User's Workstation along with a copy of
the runtime version or full version of Microsoft Access.

  3. There can be a custom ClientsTPrime.MDB file that resides on the LAN in each Brance Office.
This allows for the storage of office unique information such as Calendar, and Intake sheet
defaults. It also reduces bandwidth requirements by only transfering the dynamic information
from the Main Office, such as Client and Conflict records. Relatively static information, such
as cities, stays on the LAN.

  4. Connections to the system occur through the WAN. The bandwidth requirements are about
40k per user on the WAN.

  5. The speed of the system is mostly determined by the SQL Server at the Main Office, not
the computers that are using it via the WAN.
